EYE Toolbox for Vision Therapy Management

Optometrists in private practice find themselves working in a time of unprecedented transformation. Pressures are high as they make important management decisions that profoundly affect their business future, their private lives, and their ability to provide care to patients. EYE Toolbox™ has a mission to bring practicing colleagues together to explore solutions for interdisciplinary approach to overcome management challenges, to improve operations, provide time-saving strategies, information and tools to enhance productivity.

EYE Toolbox™ is a set of practice tools for an optometrist who specializes in vision therapy and/or neuro-optometric rehabilitation. Most doctors already use electronic medical record software (EMR), and these tools are not meant to replace the doctor's current EMR software. But most EMR software in use today focus on scheduling, billing, and charting for primary eye care services and do not address the specific needs of vision therapy and neuro-optometric rehabilitation. EYE Toolbox™ is meant to compliment an existing EMR system by providing the doctor specific tools that are vital for a healthy therapy practice.

EYE Toolbox™ is a cloud based software as a service offered by Near Vision Institute, a non-profit coroporation in Bothell, Washington, USA. The software was developed over more than 10 years of real time testing in the midst of a busy dedicated vision therapy / neuro-optometric practice. The chief architect, researcher, and developer of this software is Alan P. Pearson, OD MEd PhD FCOVD who has over 25 years of experience in vision therapy and is active in technological research and development at the EYE Research Group at the University of Washington Bothell.

EYE Toolbox™ is a fully integrated package of tools. While we have highlighted four main categories of functions, the full benefit of the toolbox is realized when all the tools are used together. Nonetheless, it is still possible to realize considerable benefits if a clinic only adopts one set of tools.

Currently, the Toolbox system is available to non-profit organizations and private practice through an application process. For more information please contact Dr. Alan Pearson at pearson@nvi.global
